Kit is a good deal, but expect to spend a lot more

Dremel makes great products, and these tools are no exception. The accessories have always been pricey, but are generally worth the cost.

The 300 rotary tool is a good one. I have a 4000 as well, and the 300 can do almost everything it can. With the proper attachments, the MultiMax and Trio could perform the same functions as the 4000-specific accessories the 300 can’t use. The 300 also lacks the true variable speed of the 4000, but the 10 speed settings on the 300 will be close enough for just about anything.

The Multi-Max makes an excellent detail sander. Haven’t been able to try the cutting function yet.

The Trio is essentially a hand-held router. Great for things that the rotary tools don’t have enough power for. Uses different accessories due to the larger shank and higher power.

The only real criticism of the kit itself is the included storage bag. It doesn’t keep the tools separate and doesn’t have any good way to store the accessories (the rotary tool accessories come in a small plastic box, but the other tools’ accessories come in plastic bags and will end up loose in the bag unless you provide your own storage box.

Why not five stars? There are some key parts not included. To do everything shown in the pictures, you need to add:

Obviously not including these kept the price of the kit down, but it was something of a disappointment to see how much extra has to be spent to make proper use of the tools. The last two items, at least, should be default components. Photos of the attachments in use should not be used to advertise the kit if they are not part of it.

It actually Works

I have had two other flaring tools in the past week trying to accomplish one single break line both of which failed. This one however did the job with ease. As long as you know the clamp is tightened it will work like a champ. The tool itself is made of better materials then the previous ones i have had. I would recommend buying this product. If you are in need of doin a break line use this product. There are cheaper flaring tools on here but you pay for what you get.

Worked perfectly.

Worked as described. The wires are clearly labeled to make the connections easier. I used this in a 2005 nissan altima. Note: the antenna wire must be connected in a 2005 nissan altima, even though there is no remote antenna, the antenna (located in the the rear glass) is amplified.

Great Product.

I’ve done a lot of wiring jobs, but not a lot of car radio installations. And I’ve never before used one of these. Forty minutes with a soldering iron and a heat gun, some shrink tubing and a few zip ties, and I had a perfect harness adapter. Plugged right into the vehicle and the radio, and worked the first time. I’ll never install another radio without one!

Pretty good repair kit

This is a good, but not great, kit for repairing tarps that have had grommets tear out or to put in some custom grommets to fit a generic tarp to suit your needs. It is a great value for the number of grommets you get in the kit, but it’s still not quite 5-star material.

Pros:
- Good value. You get 25 grommets (each is a 2-piece set with the separate washer, that’s how they get to 53-pieces).
- Grommets are sturdy and grip the tarp/tent material well once you get them installed properly. (see below)
- Hole punch is sturdy and will stand up to a lot of hole making.

Neutral:
- The hole punch is not very sharp, so using it right out of the package would require a lot of hits with the hammer, increasing the chance of a bad hit that will take out material you didn’t want to. But a couple minutes with a narrow file and that’s not a problem any more. You shouldn’t have to sharpen it, but since you can, it’s not a big deal.
- The flange sometimes seats onto the washer a bit lopsided if you’re not very careful about having all the parts of the tool aligned perfectly when you hit it. So that’s not the tool’s fault, but be warned in advance that it is very sensitive to that.

Cons:
- Machining on some of the parts is not very well done. The end of the punch that was in my kit is very rough and uneven; I’m a little concerned that I might get a piece of that metal breaking off sometime when I hit it to set a grommet.
- The grommets are made of a hard-enough metal that you really have to give it a good hit with the hammer to get the punch to fully seat the flange onto the washer. I’m a pretty big guy and I’ve been swinging a 20-oz framing hammer most of my life, and I have a few times had to take a second hit on these to get them fully seated. If this happens, you have to be very careful to make sure you have all the tools properly aligned again; if you just haul off and hit it a second time, you’re libel to end up with an offside flange that has an edge sharp enough to cause problems with a rope or bungee.
- Absolutely no instructions. While it’s pretty self-explanatory to me, I’m not sure all the steps of the process would be so clear to someone who hasn’t been a woodworker for years.

I’m happy with this purchase, and it is a really good value. Just remember to take your time and line everything up and you’ll be happy using this kit too.

Gromets good, cutter so-so

I got great use out of the grommets and they were incredibly easy to apply, but the cutter did not work for my application. I was applying grommets to a heavy canvas so I will cut it some slack, seems sturdy and if applied to your average poly tarp I’m sure it would work.

The gromets themselves are of good quality and brass so the wont rust. One word of advice however is be careful not to strike to hard or to many times as it tends to mush the brass. Tap sharply once or twice then check to see if more is required. Good Luck!

Pretty good repair kit

This is a good, but not great, kit for repairing tarps that have had grommets tear out or to put in some custom grommets to fit a generic tarp to suit your needs. It is a great value for the number of grommets you get in the kit, but it’s still not quite 5-star material.

Pros:
- Good value. You get 25 grommets (each is a 2-piece set with the separate washer, that’s how they get to 53-pieces).
- Grommets are sturdy and grip the tarp/tent material well once you get them installed properly. (see below)
- Hole punch is sturdy and will stand up to a lot of hole making.

Neutral:
- The hole punch is not very sharp, so using it right out of the package would require a lot of hits with the hammer, increasing the chance of a bad hit that will take out material you didn’t want to. But a couple minutes with a narrow file and that’s not a problem any more. You shouldn’t have to sharpen it, but since you can, it’s not a big deal.
- The flange sometimes seats onto the washer a bit lopsided if you’re not very careful about having all the parts of the tool aligned perfectly when you hit it. So that’s not the tool’s fault, but be warned in advance that it is very sensitive to that.

Cons:
- Machining on some of the parts is not very well done. The end of the punch that was in my kit is very rough and uneven; I’m a little concerned that I might get a piece of that metal breaking off sometime when I hit it to set a grommet.
- The grommets are made of a hard-enough metal that you really have to give it a good hit with the hammer to get the punch to fully seat the flange onto the washer. I’m a pretty big guy and I’ve been swinging a 20-oz framing hammer most of my life, and I have a few times had to take a second hit on these to get them fully seated. If this happens, you have to be very careful to make sure you have all the tools properly aligned again; if you just haul off and hit it a second time, you’re libel to end up with an offside flange that has an edge sharp enough to cause problems with a rope or bungee.
- Absolutely no instructions. While it’s pretty self-explanatory to me, I’m not sure all the steps of the process would be so clear to someone who hasn’t been a woodworker for years.

I’m happy with this purchase, and it is a really good value. Just remember to take your time and line everything up and you’ll be happy using this kit too.

Gromets good, cutter so-so

I got great use out of the grommets and they were incredibly easy to apply, but the cutter did not work for my application. I was applying grommets to a heavy canvas so I will cut it some slack, seems sturdy and if applied to your average poly tarp I’m sure it would work.

The gromets themselves are of good quality and brass so the wont rust. One word of advice however is be careful not to strike to hard or to many times as it tends to mush the brass. Tap sharply once or twice then check to see if more is required. Good Luck!

Grommet Kit

The grommet kit was delivered as promised and contained everything shown in the advertisement. I used 20 grommets on a tarp that I have and it was very easy to use and worked well.

This is 1/4 inch outer diameter tubing, 5 foot length

I have not purchased this product, and this is not a review of the product itself, but since the description of the product was missing the actual dimensions of the tubing, I figured I’d update it here, after having looked it up.

So, to recap, this is 1/4 inch outer diameter tubing, 5 feet in length.

Giving 5 stars only because it would be unfair of me to say something bad about the product, not having purchased it here or elsewhere.
